Introduction
As we approach another holiday season, we as believers in Christ need to be reminded once again of who we are and what we are before the Lord. Since we belong to the Lord, we should not be common as the world. By following the Lord and His purpose, our fellowship with the Him will neither be broken nor stagnated (1 John 1:6, 7, 9). In this way, our spirit, soul, and body will be preserved complete without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 5:23). However, if we become common and join ourselves in oneness to the worldly holidays, we will be with blame before Him. Thus, we will not be able to stand before Him at His return. But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him (1 Corinthians 6:17). Once we are joined to Christ in our initial salvation, we need to remain joined to Him in everything.
As the defeated believers go the way of the world, we need to be the overcomers giving Christ preeminence in all things. Christ is the Preeminent One! Therefore, Christ needs to be made preeminent and gain the preeminence in our daily Christian life. How desperately we need to give Christ the first place in our daily living. If we are to keep ourselves from defilement during these evil days, we should touch not the unclean idols of December 25. We need to remove the idols in our hearts and allow Christ to make His home there. He needs to make His home in our hearts by occupying our entire being, (the mind, emotion, and will). Give Christ the preeminence in your mind, will, and emotion! How much we need to turn to God from idols to serve the true and living God (1 Thessalonians 1:9)! How much we need to turn our heart to the Lord to seek Him, gain Him, know Him, and be found in Him! (Philippians 3:8-10)
